Bills head coach Rex Ryan mentioned it in his Wednesday press conference and new RB Boom Herron confirmed it. He’s got some built-in familiarity with Greg Roman’s offensive system.
“It’s definitely going to help me a lot,” said Herron following his first practice with the club Wednesday. “There are definitely some similarities coming from the Colts, it will help me a lot. I will stay in my playbook and come out here and help this team win.”
The familiarity in terminology between the Colts and Bills stems from the two offensive coordinators. Greg Roman and Indianapolis OC Pep Hamilton coached together under Jim Harbaugh at Stanford during the 2010 season.
Herron prides himself on being a capable all-around back.
“I definitely feel like I’m a hard-nosed, downhill runner,” he said. “I like to get the tough yards. I feel like I can also break a long one as well.”
