After one week of NFL action Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick ranks first in one area that has been the calling card for his career. Fitz doesn’t take many sacks because he gets rid of the ball so quickly. How quick? After last week’s game he had the quickest release in the NFL.
According to Pro Football Focus, Fitzpatrick led the league in fastest release time. The Jets QB got the ball out at an average of 2.11 seconds in Week 1.
That’s why hands in the passing lanes and disguising coverages will be critical for Buffalo’s defense Thursday night. When a quarterback gets the ball out that fast a defense is more likely to have more interceptions than sacks, and that’s what the Bills should bank on.
