It happened in 2010. Cleveland power Glenville high school, with Cardale Jones at quarterback took on Dwyer high school out of Palm Beach, Florida. Bills TE Nick O’Leary and New England QB Jacoby Brissett played for Dwyer together. Glenville was ranked third in the country and Dwyer 10th. The game was a tight contest. Here’s how Jones remembered it.
“It was a good game,” said Jones. “We won in the end, but O’Leary was tearing it up.”
Buffalo’s tight end did have a super productive game for Dwyer catching nine passes for 152 yards including a 49-yard touchdown.
Jones threw for 164 yards and a touchdown. Brissett had 230 yards passing and a touchdown, but Glenville won the game 26-22.
Jones also remembers recognizing Brissett when he went out for the coin toss.
“When I first saw Jacoby for the coin toss I said to myself, ‘I know this dude,’” said Jones. “Then I remembered we had met on the basketball court earlier. It was an AAU game in the spring. His team won that game, but we took the football game.”
