The Board of Directors of the State of Alabama Sports Hall of Fame announced their 2017 class for induction into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. The newly elected Inductees for the Class of 2017 included former Bills LB Takeo Spikes.
A former first-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals (1998), Spikes earned his two Pro Bowls during his time with the Bills. A captain in 13 of his 15 NFL seasons he became just the seventh inside linebacker in league history to start in more than 200 games.
His induction was due mainly to his college exploits. He played collegiately for Auburn University. He helped lead the Tigers to the SEC Western Division Championship in 1997. He led the team in tackles with 136 that year.
The 49th Induction Banquet and Ceremony will take place in Birmingham on Saturday, May 13, 2017.
