Bills GM Doug Whaley was pretty frank about where he feels the development of Cardale Jones is at this point in his rookie season.
In his weekly appearance on WGR Sportsradio 550, Whaley said for those thinking there’s value in putting Jones out on the field in the final three weeks of the season, they’re mistaken.
“He looks like he still needs some time,” said Whaley. “We’ve said from day one that this guy needed a redshirt year. He’s only played in 11 games in his career so let’s let him learn. Let’s not advance his progression just yet. Let’s just be patient with this guy. Now if something catastrophic happens and we lose Tyrod and EJ and he’s the last man standing then yes he’ll play. But that’s not something that we are planning on or want.”
