Newly signed WR Craig “Buster” Davis has his jersey assignment.

He’ll be wearing #85. Undrafted rookie long snapper Danny Aiken, who was wearing 85 will now wear jersey #73.

Bills still have opening

Posted by Chris Brown on July 31, 2011 – 10:58 pm

With the acquisition of Nick Barnett and being awarded DL Lionel Dotson off waivers, Buffalo can still add another player to their roster.

The Bills are currently at 89 players and the offseason roster limit under the new CBA is 90. Buffalo released DL Jordan Topp, which still left one roster spot open. Is Buffalo done in free agency?

Only 2 roster spots left

Posted by Chris Brown on July 29, 2011 – 9:39 pm

With the addition of Drayton Florence, Brad Smith, Tyler Thigpen, rookie free agent Jordan Topp, Scott Chandler and Garrison Sanborn signing their tenders and the signing of four more draft choices Friday, Buffalo’s roster is almost full.

Under the new CBA the offseason roster maximum is now 90. Counting 3rd round pick Kelvin Sheppard, who technically doesn’t count toward the roster total until he signs, Buffalo is at 88 players leaving just two open roster spots.

With 20 rookie free agents on the roster now and 9 rookies it seems likely those last two spots are filled in veteran free agency.

Roster numbers by position

Posted by Chris Brown on July 19, 2011 – 2:09 pm

We thought it would be a good time to assess where the Bills current roster numbers are at by position to see where additions might be made come training camp time.

Below is a breakdown of the number of players at each position right now, along with a listing of how many players were brought into camp at that position in 2010.

We chose to include the team’s nine draft choices even though they are not signed at this point. We also counted Scott Chandler and Garrison Sanborn. That would make the current roster total 65.

The Bills would need to add 15 players to get to last year’s roster limit of 80. As you’ll see below the positions that need the most additions based on last year’s camp totals are inside linebacker and cornerback.
