Bills hope to reverse trend

Posted by Chris Brown on December 12, 2009 – 10:59 pm

The Bills are hoping to reverse a trend as they begin the final quarter of their season.

Since 2005 Buffalo has been unable to close out the last four games of a regular season with a winning record. In 2004 the finished the final quarter of their season with a 3-1 mark. Since then they’ve done no better than 2-2. Since 2005, the Bills are combined 5-11.

Buffalo has gone 1-3 in their last four games in both 2007 and 2008. They went 2-2 in 2006 and 1-3 in 2005.

The good news is Buffalo is unbeaten in their last four games against AFC West opponents including a 54-31 win over the Chiefs last season.

Bills record identical to last season

After 10 games in 2008 their record is the same as it was in 2007 at 5-5.

What hurts Buffalo this time around is their 0-3 division record and their 3-4 AFC record.

Buffalo has to win at least five of their last six to have a sniff at the playoffs and in light of the inconsistency they’ve shown on the field, it’s hard to see them reeling off that many victories in a short timeframe.

Unfortunately for them, their division is shaping up to be the most formidable. And you can thank Brett Favre for that.

If he doesn’t come out of retirement, the Jets have Pennington and are more beatable, the Dolphins have Chad Henne at QB and are a joke and the Bills are likely in second place at worst.
