WR Chambers off the market

Posted by Chris Brown on March 8, 2010 – 3:48 pm

Kansas City Chiefs free agent wide receiver Chris Chambers is a free agent no more.

Chambers was re-signed by the Chiefs according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Per Schefter, it’s a three-year deal worth up to $15M with almost $6M in guaranteed money.

Knowing the connections between the Chiefs and some members of Buffalo’s current coaching staff there was speculation out there in cyberspace as to whether Chambers could be a potential target of the Bills. But it appears that only the Bengals expressed interest.

Chambers was apparently interested in remaining in Kansas City all along as he did not conduct free agent visits with any other NFL club prior to signing.

Chargers Chambers doubtful

Posted by Chris Brown on October 17, 2008 – 8:34 pm

San Diego WR Chris Chambers failed to practice for a third straight day Friday and as a result is listed as doubtful and not expected to play on Sunday. That’s good news for a Bills secondary that’s dealing with a bit of the injury bug themselves with Terrence McGee out and Ashton Youboty a dicey game time decision for Sunday.

The Chargers look as though they’ll be without WR Buster Davis, who is also doubtful with a groin injury. Of course that didn’t hurt San Diego much offensively last week when they hung 30 points on the Patriots with Vincent Jackson and Malcolm Floyd rolling up a combined 209 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

Also doubtful for the Chargers is OLB Jyles Tucker, who has missed the last two weeks with a hamstring injury. His backup Marques Harris is probable with a hamstring after practicing fully all week.

RB/KR/PR Darren Sproles (ankle) is listed as probable after participating on a limited basis the last two days. FB Mike Tolbert (ankle), LaDainian Tomlinson (toe) and safety Eric Weddle (shoulder) are all listed as probably and expected to play.

Chargers injury update

Posted by Chris Brown on October 17, 2008 – 2:28 am

It looks like the chances of seeing Chris Chambers for the Chargers is dwindling by the day. The San Diego receiver did not practice again on Thursday due to an ankle injury.

One of his replacments Buster Davis is still dealing with a groin injury and hasn’t practiced this week either.

So it appears that Malcolm Floyd will again be called upon like last week when he had over 70 yards receiving and a TD.

Shawne Merriman’s replacement LB Jyles Tucker did not practice again Thursday (hamstring), but his backup LB Marques Harris was able to practice fully despite a hamstring injury of his own.

L.T. practiced Thursday after sitting out Wednesday to rest his ailing turf toe. His backup and return specialist Darren Sproles (ankle) practiced Thursday, but on a limited basis. FB Mike Tolbert (ankle) was also limited.

Chargers still hobbled

Posted by Chris Brown on October 16, 2008 – 1:37 pm

The way San Diego head coach Norv Turner put it the Monday after his team’s Sunday night win over New England it sounded like a lot of his nicked up players would be available for this Sunday’s tilt with the Bills.

The Chargers injury report would seem to state otherwise. Though it’s possible that a lot of the injured players were given Wednesday’s practice off in light of their late game this past weekend, three of their players that did not play in last week’s game that are expected back this week did not practice Wednesday.

WR Chris Chambers (ankle), WR Buster Davis (groin) and LB Jyles Tucker (hamstring) were all held out of Wednesday’s practice for San Diego. Chambers and Tucker were two players that Turner said on Monday “should play” this weekend. Thursday’s practice report will tell us a lot more.

LaDainian Tomlinson (toe) also did not practice, but skipping Wednesday has been commonplace for him. Fellow RB and dangerous return man Darren Sproles (ankle) also did not practice. He would be a big loss for the Chargers on special teams this Sunday if he can’t go. He’s the reason the Chargers are 7th in punt return average and tops in kick return average.

FB Mike Tolbert (ankle) and S Eric Weddle (shoulder) were both limited Wednesday.

LB Marques Harris (hamstring) was full go on Wednesday.

Chargers getting healthy for Bills

Posted by Chris Brown on October 14, 2008 – 1:45 pm

The laundry list of injured players for the Chargers is expected to be noticeably shorter for Sunday’s game against the Bills. San Diego head coach Norv Turner said WR Chris Chambers, who missed Sunday night’s game with an ankle injury “should play.”

LB Jyles Tucker (Shawne Merriman’s replacement) who missed the last 2 weeks with a hamstring is also expected to be back in the lineup as well as starting DE Luis Castillo (strained biceps), RB Darren Sproles (who sprained his ankle in the Patriots game) and S Eric Weddle (shoulder sprain).

Oh and LaDainian Tomlinson says his toe is getting better not worse as he had by most accounts his best outing of the season Sunday night in terms of the way in which he ran the football.
