Bills 4th qtr changes perception

Posted by Chris Brown on November 29, 2009 – 11:37 pm

The Bills were known as a team that folds in the fourth quarter. In 8 of the 10 games Buffalo had played heading into Sunday they had been tied or leading entering the 4th quarter and lost five of those eight games. Not being able to finish was more fact than perception. But the Bills began changing that contention Sunday.

Proof of that came in Dolphins WR Greg Camarillo’s comments after the game Sunday. When asked how Buffalo has changed since October when they first faced them in Week 4, his answer was revealing.

“They stuck with it,” he said. “The Bills teams of the past would have a long drive against them and they might put their heads down, but this team stuck with it. At the end of the game they the plays and we didn’t.”

In less than two weeks Perry Fewell has gone a long way in convincing this team they’re capable of better and that fighting to the end of games despite the postseason not really being in the cards is impressive.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how Fewell will be able to get this team to finish this season after the way they finished on Sunday.

Dolphins injury report sparse

Posted by Chris Brown on December 3, 2008 – 9:50 pm

A lot of times a team’s success has a lot to do with injuries. Tennessee for example, hasn’t be beset with injuries this season and it has helped them stay successful.

The Dolphins though they lost WR Greg Camarillo and starting G Justin Smiley this past week, do not have any other players on their injury report this week, which is rare this late in the season.

In contrast the Bills have nine players on their injury report.

Smiley’s absence could have an impact on Jake Long’s play at left tackle. Smiley has been largely credited with helping Long recognize defensive looks and stunts and such much quicker than he would on his own as a rookie in the NFL.

Last week when Smiley went out the Dolphins flipped Ichekwu Ndukwe over to left guard and put Andy Alleman in at right guard. It’s anticipated the Dolphins will go with the same lineup this week.

Pats and Dolphins could lose players to suspension

Posted by Chris Brown on November 24, 2008 – 8:21 pm

Pats LT Matt Light and Dolphins LB Channing Crowder could face league discipline after their fight during Sunday’s game between New England and Miami.

I’d be shocked if either of them got suspended for a game. The league doesn’t like to hamstring teams on a playoff run by taking starters off the field for what started as a shoving match.

And if there are suspensions if they last more than a game I’d be very surprised.

The Dolphins did however, lose WR Greg Camarillo which thins Miami’s receiving corps a bit more. Camarillo is Pennington’s Josh Reed so to speak. It’ll be interesting to see how well they’ve adjusted in a couple of weeks when the Bills play the Dolphins in Toronto.
