Detroit needs spare kicker

Posted by Chris Brown on November 9, 2010 – 7:25 am

Lions long time kicker Jason Hanson was injured on a third quarter kick Sunday and had to leave the game. With Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz planning to have kickers in for workouts Tuesday, Hanson sound unlikely to recover in time for Sunday’s game at the Ralph.

“Jason Hanson could potentially miss some time,” Schwartz told MLive.com. “We’ll bring in some kickers to look at.”

Lions DT Ndamukong Suh had to attempt an extra point on Sunday, due to his soccer background, but his kick clanged off the upright. And punter Nick Harris had to handle kickoffs after Hanson was injured against the Jets.

Long time Lions kicker Jason Hanson was injured in the third quarter of Detroit’s game with the Jets Sunday and had to leave the game.
