Bills locals adding up

Posted by Chris Brown on November 27, 2010 – 1:56 pm

With Shawne Merriman being placed on injured reserve Saturday, his roster spot was filled by WR Naaman Roosevelt, yet another local WNY product on the Bills 53-man roster.

The Bills now have three local players on their active roster in S Jon Corto (Orchard Park), FB Jehuu Caulcrick (Clymer) and WR Naaman Roosevelt (Buffalo).

Roosevelt was spending extra time after practice Friday fielding punts, so there would seem to be a possibility that he could be active Sunday against the Steelers for return duty. Caulcrick saw his first NFL regular season action last week against the Bengals and Corto is now in his third season with the Bills.

Nice to see some local talent dotting the roster. We’ll see if they’re all active for Sunday’s game.

Caulcrick active

Bills FB and WNY native Jehuu Caulcrick is active for today’s game against the Bengals and here’s why.

Corey McIntyre is active and expected to start, but how long he can go with a very tender ankle remains to be seen.

My guess is Caulcrick is likely to help spell McIntyre on special teams at times to lessen the pounding on McIntyre’s ankle, which will allow McIntyre to focus and be fresher for his offensive duties.

Caulcrick could get shot

Now on the active roster, Jehuu Caulcrick could see his first NFL regular season action Sunday at Cincinnati.

Caulcrick was called up to the active roster with FB Corey McIntyre questionable for Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. After he was signed last week, Caulcrick said his number one goal was to get on the 53-man roster.

To say he’s pumped by the promotion would be an understatement. His twitter post is a small indication as to how fired up he is.

JehuuCaulcrick  Wow! What a dream come true. I am on the 53 man roster for the Buffalo Bills. Truly blessed.

Caulcrick glad he’s back

Posted by Chris Brown on November 10, 2010 – 1:55 pm

He played in Ralph Wilson Stadium all four years of his high school career, leading Clymer high school to four straight Section VI titles. Never did he think he’d be back at One Bills Drive on the NFL team’s roster.

Added to the Bills practice squad Wednesday, Caulcrick might be the happiest NFL player not on a 53-man roster… yet.

“I’m real excited about it,” he said. “I look at it as an opportunity to improve my game and break onto the 53. That’s the ultimate goal and I’m just working towards that goal and I’m just excited about the fact of being back in Western New York and being in Buffalo.”

Caulcrick said his cell phone’s voice mail has been jammed since he mentioned his signing with Buffalo last night on twitter.

“It’s been pretty crazy,” he said. “Since I came back I’ve gained 100 followers on twitter. And just facebook and everything. Like I’m said I’m real excited about the opportunity and hopefully move up.”
