Posted by Chris Brown on January 12, 2010 – 7:28 am

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jim Haslett is now in the mix for the Giants vacant defensive coordinator’s job.

Schefter made the report on his twitter account.

Adam_Schefter    Giants have approached Jim Haslett about their defensive coordinator job. Sounds like a longshot for now.

The New York reporters that cover the Giants are reporting that Perry Fewell has no formal offer from Tom Coughlin as of yet, so it appears that the Giants are still weighing their options.

Haz says not contacted about coaching jobs

Posted by Chris Brown on November 30, 2009 – 2:42 pm

UFL Florida Tuskers head coach Jim Haslett set the record straight on the kind of contact he’s had with NFL teams.

In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Haslett explained that when he said he had been contacted by a number of teams, he said the contact was to gather more information from him about his players.

“I was talking about being contacted about the players. Fanhouse wrote that and I don’t know how they got it that way. I said that I, like a lot of our other coaches, had been contacted and I meant contacted about our players,” Haslett told the Sentinel. “I haven’t been contacted by anyone, personally. There are no jobs open right now anyway. There’s still five weeks of football or whatever it is.”

Haslett has been mentioned as a head coaching candidate with the Bills where he played linebacker from 1979-1985. He’s been head coach in the NFL for the Saints and Rams, winning Coach of the Year honors with New Orleans in 2000.

Haslett contacted

Posted by Chris Brown on November 29, 2009 – 7:58 am

UFL Florida Tuskers head coach Jim Haslett has reportedly been contacted by an NFL team, but he’s not saying which one.

Haslett was a bit vague about his contact with an NFL club as he answered a question about some of his UFL players or coaches getting calls from the NFL. Here was his direct quote.

“A lot of guys have been contacted; myself, a bunch of coaches have been contacted, so we’ll see,” said Haslett.

Haslett has been head coach of two NFL teams, the Saints and Rams, winning Coach of the Year honors in 2000 with New Orleans.

Haslett has been a reported coaching candidate for the Bills, which makes his latest comment so interesting. It would not be surprising at all if the Bills in fact are the team that has made contact with Haslett as they are currently doing their due diligence to gauge the interest of some of the more attractive head coaching candidates available.
