Miller’s the choice

Posted by Chris Brown on April 14, 2011 – 10:49 pm

Texas A&M Linebacker Von Miller is expected by many to be a top 5 draft selection and if Bills fans had their way he would be the top choice for Buffalo. After watching the ouside linebacker preview in our Countdown to Draft Day series, fans made it clear Miller was their pick at the position with 73% percent of the vote. Miller has been a popular choice in a lot of mock drafts for the Bills.

UCLA’s Akeem Ayers came in second with 13% of the vote and Georgia’s Justin Houston came in third with 6%. Ayers and Houston might be options in the top of the second round.

Our final postional preview will be up on Friday in the media center and it takes a closer look at the running backs in the 2011 Draft.

Good day for Georgia’s OLB

Posted by Chris Brown on March 22, 2011 – 11:55 am

Georgia held their pro day today (Tuesday) in Athens and OLB Justin Houston reportedly improved on his 40 time at the NFL combine last month.

According to Yahoo Sports, Houston was clocked at 4.57 at his pro day on campus. That’s a shade faster than his official 4.62 at the combine where he also put up an impressive 30 reps with a 36 1/2 inch vertical and 10’5″ broad jump. At 6’3″ 270 pounds, Houston’s showing today could lock him in as a late first-round pick.

He finished the 2010 season with 10 sacks, second only to Nick Fairley in the SEC. He has private workouts set up with the Giants and Falcons according to reports.

Houston will reportedly conduct pre-draft visits with Buffalo, Minnesota and Kansas City.

Report: LB Houston to visit

Posted by Chris Brown on March 16, 2011 – 8:22 am

According to Yahoo Sports Georgia LB Justin Houston is going to be a busy prospect on the NFL pre-draft visit circuit.

He’s reportedly scheduled to visit three teams and have private workouts with two others.

The teams he’ll be reportedly visiting are the Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills. He’ll have private workouts with the Giants and Falcons prior to his pro day workout next week. None of the NFL clubs have confirmed the visits or workouts.

Houston has been moving up draft boards and is now largely considered to be a mid-first round pick. He finished second in the SEC in sacks last year with 10 and had an impressive combine workout.
