injury-report-header

The Detroit Lions have some good depth at running back, but that depth might be tested this week against the Bills with Joique Bell and his backup Theo Riddick not practicing Wednesday.

Bell sustained a concussion in last week’s game against the Jets. Riddick meanwhile is dealing with a hamstring injury. That leaves Detroit with just two healthy backs in Reggie Bush and George Winn.

Top WR Calvin Johnson has also been dealing with an ankle injury, though he hasn’t missed games he hasn’t been the dominant receiver he usually is. He did not practice either Wednesday.

Here’s the rest of the Lions’ practice participation on their Wednesday injury report.

Player Pos Injury Participation Wednesday
Joique Bell RB Concussion DNP
Joseph Fauria TE Ankle DNP
Calvin Johnson WR Ankle DNP
Travis Lewis LB Quadricep DNP
Theo Riddick RB Hamstring DNP
Cassius Vaughn CB Ankle DNP
Nick Fairley DT Knee LP
Devin Taylor DE Knee LP
Don Carey S Hamstring FP
LaAdrian Waddle T Calf FP

Lions RB Best still limited

Posted by Chris Brown on November 11, 2010 – 4:43 pm

Lions RB Jahvid Best has been limited in practice the past several weeks due to a turf toe injury and here in Week 10 that hasn’t changed.

Best was limited in practice for a second straight day as his trademark burst has been somewhat compromised by the turf toe. He’s still expected to play on Sunday against the Bills.

Other starters that were limited for the Lions Thursday included RG Stephen Peterman (foot), DE Cliff Avril (quad), DE Kyle Vanden Bosch (knee), DT Corey Williams (groin), S C.C. Brown (knee), CB Chris Houston (shoulder), CB Alphonso Smith (shoulder).

QB Shaun Hill (forearm) practiced fully for a second straight day.

Posted by Chris Brown on November 10, 2010 – 4:37 pm

DE Cliff Avril (quad), K Jason Hanson (knee), RG Stephen Peterman (foot) and Matt Stafford (shoulder) all did not practice. Hanson has already been replaced on the roster by Dave Rayner and Shaun Hill is expected to start in place of Stafford.

Other starters limited in practice for Detroit were RB Jahvid Best (toe), SS C.C. Brown (knee), CB Chris Houston (shoulder), CB Alphonso Smith (shoulder), DE Kyle Vanden Bosch (knee), DT Corey Williams (groin).
