Saints down three starters for Sunday

Posted by Chris Brown on September 25, 2009 – 6:49 pm

The New Orleans Saints will be without two key players on offense and one on defense Sunday.

WR Lance Moore and RB Mike Bell are both out with hamstring and knee injuries respectively. Starting DT Kendrick Clancy is also out.

RB Pierre Thomas (knee), DE Charles Grant (hamstring) , SS Roman Harper (hamstring), TE Jeremy Shockey (ankle) and LT Jermon Bushrod (filling in for injured starting LT Jamaal Brown) are all probable.

There’s also speculation that Reggie Bush might see his punt return opportunities trimmed back and 1st-year WR Rod Harper used.

Saints RB Mike Bell not looking good for Sunday

Posted by Chris Brown on September 24, 2009 – 7:39 pm

For the second straight day Saints RB Mike Bell did not participate in practice due to a knee injury.

The rushing duties appear as though they will fall to Pierre Thomas and Lynell Hamilton for the Saints this week. Thomas, who is coming off a knee injury himself has practiced fully the past two days.

Starting DT Kendrick Clancy (knee) also did not practice again on Thursday. If he can’t go Remi Ayodele or former Bills DE Anthony Hargrove would step in for him.

DE Charles Grant (hamstring) practiced on Thursday again on a limited basis. Not having him at 100 percent wouldn’t be a bad thing for the Bills.

WR Lance Moore (hamstring) also did not practice for a second straight day and is not looking good for Sunday.
