18 game season not til 2012
Posted by on August 25, 2010 – 4:25 pmThe NFL’s plans to suggest an expanded 18-game regular season will begin in earnest when the league and the Player Association meet again at the collective bargaining table, but if expansion of the regular season passes it won’t be for the 2011 league year.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated that the 18-game regular season, if approved, would not begin until the 2012 season.
Explaining all the additional revenue from two additional regular season games and how it would be divided is likely to be one of the bigger issues along with expanded rosters, player safety etc.

Good look at 18 game season
Posted by on June 24, 2009 – 12:59 pmThe expansion to an 18-game season has been debated a lot even though it appears the league is only in the exploratory stages of the idea. But agent Jack Bechta takes a good look at the pros and cons while getting opinions from NFL front offices, coaches and players.
His National Football Post write up on the subject brings to light how much needs to be considered by all parties involved before moving forward on it.
I’m for it, but I think they’d have to put in an extra bye week and expand the rosters to 53 active on game day, carry 58 total and expand the practice squad to 10 players.
