Nix on undrafteds

Posted by Chris Brown on April 30, 2012 – 3:15 pm

Bills GM Buddy Nix appeared on Bills flagship station WGR Sportsradio 550 in Buffalo Monday to recap the draft. He also provided some insight on the new 10 undrafted rookies that have agreed to terms.

Nix, who was asked specifically about Richmond QB Aaron Corp, believes Corp can compete.

“He’s got all the tools,” said Nix. “Our scouts that went in there liked him. Darrell Moody and Tom Roth went in there and they liked him. So he’s got a chance. We’ll give him an opportunity.”

As for the other there was an offensive lineman and punter that stood out in the group.

“We liked a lot of these guys and one of them, (offensive line coach) Joe D’Alessandris liked (Paul) Madsen from Colorado State,” said Nix. ‘We had good grades on him. The punter from Florida State Powell we’ll give him a chance. He led the nation in 47 yards a kick in punting so he’s got a chance to compete. These safeties, we could add one, so they’ll have a chance. All these guys may have some holes in them, but they also have qualities that make positives for them to be here.”

Nix also said there will be upwards of 20 tryout players for Buffalo’s rookie minicamp, which begins Friday May 11th, so they’ve got enough players to have practice.

1 Bills undrafted has NBA link

Posted by Chris Brown on April 30, 2012 – 2:29 pm

One of the 10 Bills undrafteds that has agreed to terms has a link to the NBA.

Colorado State OL Paul Madsen is the ninth youngest of 10 kids. He’s got four brothers and five sisters with one of his brothers being Minnesota Timberwolves and L.A. Lakers forward Mark Madsen. Madsen’s NBA brother had the nickname of “Mad Dog.” According to Bills scout Brad Forsyth the offensive lineman with the same surname is a pretty tough customer as well.

He played through a sprained MCL and high-ankle sprain in the 2011 season at Colorado State and still earned 2011 All-Mountain West Conference 2nd team honors. Of course his brother’s NBA career has been outshined by his peculiar NBA title dance that he performed during their Los Angeles city celebration as a member of the Lakers following their 2001 championship while Shaq rapped. Here’s a look.
