Stevie apologized to Plax

Posted by Chris Brown on November 28, 2011 – 4:01 pm

Stevie Johnson didn’t talk directly to Plaxico Burress, but he got in contact with him and apologized for his touchdown celebration in which he mocked shooting himself in the leg just like Burress did at a nightclub that landed him in federal prison for two years.

“I just sent him a text message and he responded and everything is cool,” said Johnson. “Between me and him it is (smoothed over). It’s an unfortunate situation with me being immature like that, but I got in touch with him and he responded and it’s cool.”

While the fact that the celebration drew the flag was bothersome to head coach Chan Gailey so too was Johnson’s mocking of the Burress gun incident.

“It bothered me. Sure it did,” said Gailey. “I don’t think you make fun of people. I don’t think you do that. That’s wrong in my opinion and I stated that.”

Stevie talks to Plax

Posted by Chris Brown on November 28, 2011 – 10:10 am

Stevie Johnson insisted his antics after his touchdown against the Jets Sunday weren’t meant to insult Plaxico Burress, but after the game Johnson admitted it was insensitive and made contact with Burress Sunday night.

That according to Burress, who tweeted that everything had been smoothed over between them.

@plaxico Plaxico Burress For the record I talked to S. Johnson #13. Its all love. I dedicated my game to Sean Taylor UM#36 #21 today. I miss my man. I love you bro!
When Johnson was asked if anything personal was meant by his “celebration” in which he mimicked shooting himself in the leg, which Burress did, the Bills receiver said it was not.
“No, it was just a bad decision that I made and I cost our team seven points basically,” Johnson said. “At the end of the day it cost our team seven points. I just had to apologize to everybody and talked to coach. I can’t be doing that. I’ve got to be more mature about the situation.”

Burress questionable

Posted by Chris Brown on November 4, 2011 – 2:08 pm

Jets WR Plaxico Burress was limited again in practice Friday after some lower back stiffness surfaced Thursday. Now he’s 50-50 to play against the Bills on Sunday.

Burress’ back could certainly limber up in time for Sunday’s game, but if he can’t go it would take a valuable red zone weapon out of New York’s offense. Burress had three red zone touchdown catches in the Jets’ last game against San Diego. Behind Burress on the depth chart is not much proven talent at wideout with Patrick Turner and rookie Jeremy Kerley up next on the depth chart.
