Ryan Neill lands a job

Posted by Chris Brown on October 29, 2009 – 10:06 am

Former Bills long snapper Ryan Neill, who was beaten out for the Bills’ job this summer by rookie Garrison Sanborn has landed on his feet.

Neill just signed with the St. Louis Rams after their long snapper Chris Massey suffered a season-ending knee injury. He’s expected to play on Sunday, and knowing the Rams have the lowest scoring offense in the NFL he’s likely to be busy.

Bills waive long snapper Neill

Posted by Chris Brown on August 19, 2009 – 9:09 pm

It only took three weeks of training camp for rookie long snapper Garrison Sanborn to impress Buffalo’s coaching staff as the club cut ties with veteran long snapper Ryan Neill Wednesday afternoon.

Neill has spent the last 3 seasons snapping for Buffalo (2006 on practice squad, ’07-’08 on roster), but Sanborn who was signed in the spring after a tryout with Buffalo has been every bit as good as Neill.

In fact Dick Jauron was paying very close attention in practice to the split times on FG snaps and long snaps for both players.

Sanborn appeared to have better velocity and his aacuracy was just as good as Neill’s.

Sanborn may just want to bulk up a little more to hold up more consistently inside on those snaps.

An interesting development though to say the least even if the competition looked dead even all the way. I thought for sure it would go right down to final cut down day.

Brian Moorman, Rian Lindell, Ryan Neill, special teams coordinator and other Bills club members will be participating in Sunday’s Town Of Pittsford sprint triathlon.

The PUNT Team will be racing to benefit pediatric cancer research as part of Moorman’s PUNT Foundation.

I’ll be there and let you know how everyone did in the race.
