1 Bills undrafted has NBA link

Posted by Chris Brown on April 30, 2012 – 2:29 pm

One of the 10 Bills undrafteds that has agreed to terms has a link to the NBA.

Colorado State OL Paul Madsen is the ninth youngest of 10 kids. He’s got four brothers and five sisters with one of his brothers being Minnesota Timberwolves and L.A. Lakers forward Mark Madsen. Madsen’s NBA brother had the nickname of “Mad Dog.” According to Bills scout Brad Forsyth the offensive lineman with the same surname is a pretty tough customer as well.

He played through a sprained MCL and high-ankle sprain in the 2011 season at Colorado State and still earned 2011 All-Mountain West Conference 2nd team honors. Of course his brother’s NBA career has been outshined by his peculiar NBA title dance that he performed during their Los Angeles city celebration as a member of the Lakers following their 2001 championship while Shaq rapped. Here’s a look.

Roster count update

Posted by Chris Brown on April 30, 2012 – 2:10 pm

With the Bills agreeing to terms with 10 new undrafteds here’s where they stand in terms of roster count.

Buffalo now has 89 players on their offseason roster. The league maximum in the offseason is 90, which was recently expanded from the previous figure of 80. So the Bills just have one vacant roster spot at this time.

“Man if they hand me number 18 that’ll be great,” Roosevelt said not fully believing it. “I’ll be the happiest person ever if I get 18.”

Numbers for Coleman, Harris

Posted by Chris Brown on April 28, 2010 – 3:11 pm

Two of the newest Bills, undrafted rookie free agents Antonio Coleman and Dominique Harris, who signed on Wednesday already have their jersey numbers assigned.

Coleman will wear jersey number 59 and Harris will wear number 36 when they report for Buffalo’s rookie minicamp a week from Friday.

Coleman looks like a guy that could potentially help in pass rush situations from the OLB spot. 24.5 sacks is nothing to sneeze at playing in the SEC. Harris was the team MVP at Temple. He’s got a tough row to hoe with some quality veterans at his SS spot however.

Report: Bills undrafted signings

Posted by Chris Brown on April 24, 2010 – 7:38 pm

This is anything but official, but there are reports out there already on some of the undrafted rookies that have signed with Buffalo.

Every year puts out a list of undrafted free agent signings for every team in the league that is pretty much on the mark. Though the Bills usually do not confirm any undrafted signings for a few days, here are the player names that have reportedly signed with Buffalo.

John Destin, CB, Tulsa
Naaman Roosevelt, WR, Buffalo
Donald Jones, WR, Youngstown St.
Joique Bell, RB, Wayne State
Stephan Virgil, CB, Virginia Tech
Brett Johnson, S, Cal
Antonio Coleman, DE/OLB, Auburn

Seeing cornerbacks on this list is not surprising since GM Buddy Nix mentioned that they had landed some cornerbacks among their undrafted signings.

“You always try to take a corner,” said Nix of the draft. “Now we got some just after the draft. You always need to get them. You use them so much, they’re on the field so much. What helped us to pick the guys we did (in the draft) is that we feel pretty good about our secondary and the depth and all of it. We’ll pick up a couple of good players. Most of the guys we’re getting after the draft we had draftable grades on.”

Roosevelt has reportedly also announced he is signing with Buffalo on his Facebook page. So a local Buffalo kid looks like he’ll be staying local. When all of the undrafted signings are official we’ll have them for you on the home page of
