Vontae Davis still rehabbing groin

Posted by Chris Brown on March 2, 2018 – 5:19 pm

Recently Bills new CB Vontae Davis was medically cleared coming off of groin surgery last November, but he still has some ground to cover to get all the way back to 100 percent.

In a conference call interview with the WNY media, Davis indicated that he might be limited when the team returns for the offseason conditioning program in the spring.

“Right now, I’m still rehabbing,” said Davis. “I was cleared two weeks ago. It’s a process. I’m still doing a lot of strengthening work. I’m not sure about the spring, yet. I’ll probably be limited, but right now I’m making progress in my rehab process. I’m back training. I’m cleared to do everything. It’s just a process with the strengthening work and everything.”

Colts CB doubtful

Posted by Chris Brown on November 23, 2012 – 1:44 pm

The cornerback the Colts acquired through trade with Miami is doubtful for Sunday’s game with a knee injury.

Vontae Davis was unable to practice Wednesday, tried to practice Thursday but was limited. Apparently his knee did not respond well as he did not practice Friday.

If Davis can’t play Josh Gordy or Cassius Vaughn would replace him in the lineup.

Fins: Bills wanted it more

Posted by Chris Brown on December 19, 2010 – 9:59 pm

Several Dolphins players were looking for answers after Sunday’s loss at home to the Bills knowing their playoff hopes are all but dashed now needing to win their last two games and get some help. In assessing what happened Sunday Miami safety Yeremiah Bell just thought the Bills wanted the game more.

“It’s very frustrating. It’s sickening to the stomach,” said Bell. “You come into a game, you know what you need to accomplish and then you go out, you don’t make plays, and you just let it slip by.

“We let them get ahead of us. We didn’t make enough plays and they made the plays. They came in here, they were hungrier then we were and they won the game. I guess we weren’t hungry enough, because like I said, we all knew the situation, and we let it go.”

Fellow defensive back Vontae Davis felt the same way.

“We let this one slip away,” said Davis. “We didn’t come out to play. They obviously wanted it more. They just executed more than we did.”

Dolphins CB whining about T.O. push off

Posted by Chris Brown on November 30, 2009 – 9:41 am

Terrell Owens 51-yard touchdown catch put the game away for the Bills on Sunday. It also left the man covering him, rookie cornerback Vontae Davis in a whiny mood about an alleged push off by Owens that Davis felt should have been called.

Davis told the Palm Beach Post that Owens received special treatment from the officials and that the Dolphins were not only playing against the Bills, but the refs as well.

“There was nothing else I could do about that,” Davis said of the TD catch by Owens. “I can do nothing about that. Wow. That’s all I can say is wow. We knew that we were playing against them and the refs. That’s tough. You can’t make the game close. After that, I just knew (the officials) were not letting us get out of here with that game.”

Sounds a lot like sour grapes.

Corner numbers slow at combine

Posted by Chris Brown on February 24, 2009 – 5:07 pm

With cornerbacks and safeties running today on the last day of the combine it was thought there would be some low 40 times, but either the track is slow or the first group of DBs are not having a good day.

One of the top corners Illinois’ Vontae Davis ran a 4.43, Notre Dame FS David Bruton ran a 4.42.  UCONN CB Darius Butler ran a 4.45 and Georgia’s Asher Allen ran a 4.47.

Top rated safety Patrick Chung from Oregon ran a 4.47. Alabama FS Rashad Johnson ran a 4.54. Western Michigan’s Louis Delmas ran a 4.49.

Keith Ellison’s brother Kevin (USC SS) had a good showing on the bench press with 32 reps, but his best unofficial 40 time was 4.82.

The best unofficial time was run by Oregon State’s Brandon Hughes, who had a 4.36. I haven’t seen another sub 4.4 time thus far however.
